The certified basic tobacco seed which is being disposed to tobacco cultivators, has been controlled according to the Technical Control Regulation and Certification of seed to tobacco sowing. (FΕΚ 369/31-3-2003, No 224961), by the authorized services of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food, and fulfills the following prerequisites:
- It is genetically clean and responds to the type of the specific variety.
- It is uniform, integral with vegetative ability
- It is free from weed or any other material.
- It contributes to the production of strong and properly developed plants.
- It presents stability as far as yields are concerned
Advantages from cultivating Greek tobacco varieties:
- They are adjusted and give better results in Greek soil and climate conditions
- They have stable quality characteristics
- They are desirable by the tobacco industry because of their taste characteristics
Greek tobacco varieties, created and owned by ELGO-DEMETER, registered in the National Catalogue, of which basic certified seeds are disposed for sale (West type seeds are disposed also in a suitable shape for float system use in packages of 100g).
